One Day at a Time (The Alcoholics Anonymous Story)

Actor's Script from the First National Television Program About the Founding of Alcoholics Anonymous.

The program is called One Day at a Time (The Alcoholics Anonymous Story) and was done by Four-Star Films, written by Larry Marcus. The program debuted on November 15, 1955 on DuPont's Cavalcade Theater. It is mainly about Bill Wilson's experience in Towns Hospital, at the Mayflower Hotel, meeting Dr Bob, and the beginning days of what is now known as Alcoholics Anonymous. The show aired again on March 12, 1957 with an audience estimated in the millions.

From correspondence and a note on the script itself, we know that Bill W and other early members of the Fellowship had a hand in editing the script. While Bill and the General Service Headquarters didn't officially endorse the film, partly because 1. It didn't stress Bill's spiritual experience at Towns Hospital and 2. It incorrectly credited Dr. Silkworth as the origin of the 12th Step, carrying the message to other alcoholics, they were quite pleased with the end result and thought it would help a great deal in reaching the public.

Il attribuait à tort au Dr Silkworth l'origine de la 12e étape, portant le message à d'autres alcooliques, il était très satisfait du résultat final et pensait que cela aiderait beaucoup à atteindre le public.
