A glimpse of Lindsay Lohan after her AA meeting

Troubled star Lindsay Lohan finally emerged from Samantha's house to do her DUI duties and attend her AA meeting. After a crazy weekend that included a warrant for her arrest, a minor crash, domestic disturbance, and an impromptu visit to Jack Nicholson, Lindsay is being camera shy. Lindsay had a CIA like security team working for her that smoothed her transition from home into the AA meeting and eased her exit from the AA meeting. Lindsay's lawyer was able to get the arrest warrant taken off under the excuse that it was just a big misunderstanding and that the paparazzi were to blame for her absence in one of the meetings.

La dépendance : saine ou malsaine ?

Rien ne peut être plus démoralisant qu’une dépendance tenace et abjecte à l’égard d’un autre être humain. Celle-ci peut impliquer l’exigence d’une telle somme de protection et d’amour que nul être humain ne soit en mesure de la satisfaire. Les protecteurs sur lesquels nous avons compté s’évanouissent et nous nous retrouvons à nouveau esseulés, soit pour aller de l’avant, soit pour mourir.

Nous avons découvert que Dieu lui-même est la meilleure source de stabilité émotive. Nous nous sommes rendus compte que notre dépendance envers Sa justice parfaite, Sa miséricorde et Son amour était saine et qu’elle était efficace là où rien n’aurait pu l’être. Si nous dépendons réellement de Dieu, nous ne pouvons jouer le rôle de Dieu vis-à-vis de nos frères, pas plus que nous ne pouvons ressentir le besoin de dépendre totalement de leur protection et de leur secours.

Pioneers of Alcoholics Anonymous

So, on this late fall afternoon in 1937, Smithy and I were talking together in his living room, Anne sitting there, when we began to count noses. How many people had stayed dry; in Akron, in New York, maybe a few in Cleveland? How many had stayed dry and for how long? And when we added up the total, it sure was a handful of, I don't know, 35 to 40 maybe. But enough time had elapsed on enough really fatal cases of alcoholism, so that we grasped the importance of these small statistics.

Bob and I saw for the first time that this thing was going to succeed. That God in his providence and mercy had thrown a new light into the dark caves where we and our kind had been and were still by the millions dwelling. I can never forget the elation and ecstasy that seized us both. – Bill W., 1954
