Anthem - "Serenity Prayer", Robert S. Cohen

Publié le par kreizker

Anthem - "Serenity Prayer", Robert S. Cohen (b.1945)
anthem camcorded live 29 March 2009 (5th Sunday in Lent)

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Amen."
Text: attributed to Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)

Robert S. Cohen, composer of today's anthem has written music for orchestra, chamber ensemble, choir, dance and theater. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and commissions, including a NJ State Council on the Arts Fellowship, an American Music Center grant, and a Meet the Composer Award. Mr. Cohen's works have been premiered at Carnegie Hall, Kean University, and many other venues. Cohen co-authored the book and composed the score for the 2000 Richard Rodgers Award-winning off-Broadway musical Suburb. Bob currently works as a composer and writer, and is a member of ASCAP, the American Music Center, Dramatists Guild, AACT, PAS and Chorus America. He lives in Montclair, NJ with his wife, Maryann, and three cats: Fred, Ginger, and Trixie. This is the third time that The Redeemer Choir is honored to sing one of Mr. Cohen's works.
