Women members of five Westchester groups of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet tomorrow afternoon at the home of a Yonkers woman member to discuss the special problems of women drinkers.
The groups are located in Yonkers, Mount Vernon, White Plains, New Rochelle and Peekskill.
The meeting is being held, it was explained, to help women overcome their fear of seeking help for alcoholism.
“Whiskey affects women just as it does men,” a woman member said during a discussion at the YMCA, “but it is harder for a woman to admit she has a drinking problem because of what people will think.”
She added that drinking only made her problems worse, and that when she stopped drinking, her problems began to be solved.
